Everybody finds this daunting at first, they see it as another checkbox that does nothing real for them or their business.
However, as we discussed in our Long-form vs Short-form blog post, social media posting can provide a huge benefit to your business following and any potential clients.
In fact, Google (when crawling your site) will check your social media posts, likes, shares & general activity. Google doesn't just love posts about your business, it loves to hear about your local area, events you've attended, anything you can think of.
Google even loves to see posts about the internal workings of your business, such as new staff member introductions, office upgrades and plans you may want to tease for the future.
Social media updates in today's world couldn’t be easier, so why not get involved?
The key thing to remember when creating social media content is to keep it simple, if you overload your viewers or prospective clients with information and content it may turn them away.
Making one simple post, each week, is a good starting point. Once you’ve got a feel for it feel free to expand but when starting, start small.
Which social media to use?
This is a tricky question to answer, it all depends on who you want your client to be and what you want them to see, there’s a plethora of options available to you:
- X
- Instagram
- Facebook
- TikTok
- YouTube
X is great for short snappy posts that include graphics and videos, while Instagram is more visual content with images being placed at the forefront of your post. Facebook is a great mix of the two while TikTok and YouTube are purely video-based content.
Why not try them all out? See which content gets the most engagement, what you enjoyed working with the most and work from there.
Nothing is stopping you from using multiple of these social media platforms at once, in fact, once you’ve got the hang of it that’s what we’d recommend, that means that anybody who’s on Twitter rather than Instagram for instance, won’t miss out.
Once you’re adept and ready, you could then even think of having a hub for your social media posts in one place, your website!
With third party Widgets that we work with such as Elfsight, you can enhance your website with your posts!
Elfsight widgets automatically update when a post is made on any of your linked social media, meaning any visitors to your website can see your most up to date posts and can keep up with your goings on. It makes your website look like it's updated daily and keeps everyone informed.
