Welcome to Toolkit Websites Nick!
Hot on the heels of Amber who started last week, we are delighted to now welcome Nick, our new Web Developer who`s joined our Chichester Team.
I fired a few questions to Nick on his 2nd day at Toolkit to get an idea of how he was feeling and what areas of the role he was looking forward to doing. Nick in the long term will be replacing Taylor, who will be leaving Toolkit at the end of March to go out on his own as a freelance front & back end Web Developer.
Nick will be taking over the mantle from Taylor and handling our website builds & bespoke development projects, alongside Emily, our world class Project Manager!
Find out about Nick here and how he`s feeling 48 hours into his Toolkit adventure.
Toolkit: What motivated you to Join Toolkit Websites?
I was really drawn to Toolkit because of its focus on supporting smaller and local businesses. I believe small businesses are the backbone of local communities, and helping them build a strong online presence feels meaningful. I was also impressed by the level of customer care Toolkit provides — it’s clear that relationships and long-term support matter here, and that really motivated me to want to be part of the team.
Toolkit: Can you share a bit about your background in Web Design & Development?
Web development started as a hobby for me many years ago and gradually became something I was genuinely passionate about. I began building websites for friends and family who ran small businesses, which gave me real-world experience and helped me realise I wanted to pursue it professionally. From there, I committed to developing my skills further, learning industry standards and tools, and building a career in web development.
Toolkit: What excites you most about joining our team?
I’m really excited to be part of a team that genuinely cares about the quality of the work and the experience clients have along the way. It’s great to join a company where collaboration is encouraged and where there’s a shared goal of helping small businesses succeed online. I’m also looking forward to continuing to develop my skills and learning from the experience within the team.
Toolkit: In what ways do you see yourself contributing to the overall success of our Toolkit team?
I see myself contributing by bringing a strong attention to detail and a structured approach to development. I enjoy creating clean, maintainable code and building websites that are both user-friendly and visually engaging. I also value clear communication and teamwork, so I’m keen to support colleagues wherever I can to ensure projects run smoothly and clients feel confident in the service we provide.
Toolkit: How do you plan to stay motivated and challenge yourself as you progress with us?
I plan to continue learning and refining my skills, especially in areas that strengthen my front-end development knowledge. Setting personal development goals, staying up to date with industry trends, and asking for feedback will all help me keep improving. I enjoy problem-solving, so challenging myself with more complex tasks over time is something I’m really looking forward to.
Toolkit: How did your first day go!?
My first day went really well! Everyone was welcoming and supportive, which made settling in much easier. It was great to get an overview of how things work and start understanding the workflow and projects. I’m looking forward to getting more hands-on and contributing more to live work.
Toolkit: What skills do you bring to the team from your previous Web Development Role in Chichester?
From my previous role, I bring experience working within a custom framework and CMS, as well as collaborating with designers and other developers to deliver client projects. I’ve developed strong front-end skills, particularly in writing structured, maintainable code. Working on real client sites has strengthened my problem-solving abilities and my understanding of balancing technical requirements with user experience.
