Website of the week: Small Plates Catering

Posted on 5th October 2016

This week's website of the week goes to Small Plates Catering. Small Plates Catering has a great reputation when it comes to catering for events for both the public and personal groups.

Senior Project Manager Lanara started by creating a fully responsive website, using full width panels, slide show header and well chosen imagery to showcase the styles of catering the client provides.

Colour Scheme

The website features a neutral colour scheme that lets the imagery do the talking. The gold accent colour gives it an elegant feel in contrast to the white and dark grey.

Gallery Functionality

The website features a gallery area for people to view albums of images. These enlarge once clicked on meaning that people can get the full effect of the images and click through them at leisure.

Page Structure

The website is a one page website, using the gallery as an extra area for people to navigate to. One page websites are particularly effective as landing pages like this one where the information provided is a general overlook of the services provided, how to get in touch and links to useful social media accounts.

Responsive Nature

The website passes Google's mobile-friendly test with flying colours, meaning that the website is responsive to the device it's being viewed on. This is a must when it comes to people viewing the website on the go! This is essential for being found in mobile search results.

It is important to choose imagery that compliments the design and that are representative of the services provided. The images on this design take centre stage and blend well with the over all look and feel.
